SCOPE OF WORK

 Onsite Home Survey
  • Interview the homeowner.

  • Perform a walk around interior inspection.

  • Measure home (i.e. room sizes, ceiling heights, window and door sizing and location, etc.).

  • Gather existing HVAC equipment nameplate data.

  • Note size and location of existing supply air registers.

  • Note size and location of existing return air grille(s).

  • Note condition of air filters.

  • Note location of existing thermostat(s).

  • Note size and location of existing exhaust fans.

  • Measure existing airflow at each register and total airflow at the air handler.

  • Measure external static pressure across the indoor fan, the cooling coil, the return air duct system and the supply air duct system.

  • Perform a general inspection of the HVAC and exhaust systems installation.

  • Make an As-Built duct sizing and duct routing schematic of existing supply air and return air duct systems.

  • Inspect duct connections.

  • Inspect safety pans, condensate lines and safety drains for proper installation and drainage.

  • Document findings.

Construction Documents Review (if provided)

  • Review the construction drawings.

  • Review the Residential Certificate of Compliance documents.

  • Verify as built against construction drawings.

 Evaluation and Solutions

  • Perform a Manual J computerized room-by-room heat gain/heat loss calculations in accordance with the construction documents and the true home orientation.

  • Verify HVAC equipment selection.

  • Overlay the existing air delivery and air distribution systems onto a Manual D layout for comparison to calculated air delivery requirements.

  • Compare existing exhaust and ventilation systems with desired exhaust and ventilation requirements.

  • Design the necessary duct modifications and/or additions to meet the air delivery and air distribution requirements (if required).

  • Calculate the exhaust requirements (air changes) for bathrooms and laundry rooms.

  • Calculate the makeup air requirements.

  • Prepare retrofit drawings and specifications.

  • Prepare an estimated cost.

  • Prepare and submit a written report of findings and recommendations.

  • Review finding and recommendations with homeowner.
